Firing...
with my sub i always had the sub firing towards the rear....
but im trying a new setup for my civic now since ive also done mostly truck instals...
and from what ive heard sealing off the trunk and firing the sub/ports into the cabin will eliminate most trunk rattling which is what IM REALY HOPING FOR! i want all the bass i can get eith minimal rattling on the outside! im also going for a sweet looken setup also this time!
but anyways what i would sugest for the subs is flush the subs into the box by doubling alittle of the mdf... just has to be around the subs, then with the subs mounted flush with the outter mdf but another piece of 1/4inch mdf cut the same size of the box and the sub cutouts just large enough for the subs surround to show thru but no screw holes or the ugly/missing cork gasket
then you can either just screw the trim panel to the front or even just use some push in snaps.... your choise if you think they are realy ugly...
or just invert the subs with the mags sticking out. LMFAO
ive dont that pleanty of times!
or try to find a blown dirt cheap one on ebay with a decent gasket... cut it off with a razor blade and glue it onto your bad one
also another idea... if not much of the gasket is missing just use a razor blade and cut the whole gasket to one level.... tape up the surround and cone and bust out the flat black spray paint
looks like new....
just several ways for you to think about........... depending on how much you care about it or looks
this is the start of my box build

thats just the front trim panel.

put the speakers in a closed box and have thm face the rear of the trunk...in oreder to get a good base sound u need the speakers to have room to move the air which give u the base feel. trust me ive had my system EVERY possible direction and thts the best way to do it, also i noe a guy tht is #1 in Florida in the Sound System Competions said the same thing. any1 in Florida might noe the the name of the store...Mad Bass
