i just ordered a new alpine iva-w205 dvd player headunit along with the kce-422i ipod cable and a pac video bypass. im also going to hook my my old ps2 and im thinking about gertting a rear view camera. what is a good rear view camera to get though? and i am also wondering....i have an alpine cda-9855 now so should i be able to hook this new alpine up myself? i just didnt know because its an in-dash and double din but shouldn't all the connections and wires just hook in?

if youve wired up your own radio before YA you can do it yourself shouldnt be a problem at all! only thing that is upgraded is

not sure what they have upgraded since my w200 BUT ONE THING I WILL TELL YOU TO BUY RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!! a screen protector!!!!!! VERY IMPORTANT! if you dont..... its only a matter of time before you scratch the screen! i cannt stress enough!
http://cgi.ebay.com/Screen-Protector...QQcmdZViewItem

beter to scratch that clear protector film instead of scratching the screen! the film can be pulled off easily and a new one applied but if you scratch the screen ITS SCRATCHED!

and wel JUST thought about it and REMEMBERED thier is alittle custom work you have to do which does suck......
TWO THINGS.... one moddify the plastic bezel...
IF SCARED... dont be..... they sell new trim rings just for the fact that you could mess it up...
http://cgi.ebay.com/Alpine-Trim-Ring...QQcmdZViewItem

FIRST THING TO DO is tweak the mounting points afew...
put the radio into the center console thing and try to get it to set close to flush.... you will need to grind some metal or drill new holes to mount the radio more flush... cause with it just screwed in using the factory mounting holes it will sit back and PERSONALY to me it just doesnt look as good... i also tilted my radio abit because the way it sits with the factory holes just seems to TILTED BACKWARDS for me... and im 6ft tall, with it also tilted down more it makes the picture look beter just cause of the viewing angle you see it from.
pics of mine

its tweaked outwards just alittle bit but i would like to see it more flush but to lazy to pull it and tweak the mounting holes on the stock brackets..

its not tweaked much BUT it doesnt take much to look beter..

second thing to do is attach the radio into your center dash console, with the set screws included with the radio, they should screw right in thier...
now its time to GUESS how HIGH/low you need that bezel to be to clear the top and bottom to clear the console.....

NOW PART TWO tweaking.... again with the bezel
DONT JUST SNAP IT TO THE RADIO..... those pictures above look good BUT those are pictures of after doing it... now IF YOUR LUCKY ALPINE has fixed this issue..... OTHERWISE your bezel if snaped onto the radio itself... it will look like this..
well click the link pictures are kinda big to just post..
http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...grounds001.jpg
http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...grounds005.jpg

you see the bezel SUCKED BACK WAY TO FAR.... now i hope alpine has fixed this problem for your newer version of the radio BUT if not.....
HOT GLUE GUN works great to attach the radio bezel to the center console trim.... thats what i used to attach mine. and as you can see from the pictures above it looks alot beter with the bezel also flush.

just let me know when you get yours.... i would hope that alpine would have fixed this eyesoar offset bezel from factory... BUT if not thats how you would tweak it to look ALOT BETER!

but the radio has no more conections than a regular aftermarket cd player, as long as you wire up that bypass unit, the only extra wires on it is a video OUTPUT which is only if you have extra monitors to send video to as well. still VERY EASY!
a dremel and maybe a hack saw or ban saw, or even a small grinder is all ya need to tweak the radios mounting a bit, hardest part is cuting that bezel STRAIGHT and even as you can see with my larger pictures linked, mines not perfect BUT good enough for me...

the same as what tho? your old alpine wires? or that youll be able to reuse your old aftermarket harness adaptor?

you can reuse your aftermarket harness adaptor yes BUT i dont think the 2 alpine harnesses will be the same..

i realy hope that haveissued the bezel posiition but im sure youll still have to trim the top and bottom...
they make it that way so it will fit just about every car... i believe every car would need to be slightly trimed, and some use the metal cage but i know our 99-00 civics dont use the metal cages.

no you shouldnt need anymore wires.... BUT it would be a good idea to power the new radios yellow power wire and wire it into the fuse box power supply...... that has power ALL THE TIME.

you just reuse your old aftermarket radio wire harness, but since its so cheap for a new one i would just buy a new aftermarket harness adaptor. alot easier than cutting all the wires and re striping and crimping the new harness to it. and that way you can always sell your radio as a simple plug and play for civics
