need advice
I am makeing some changes to my sisters 03hb sterieo. she has a 5ch amp running the componets and 2 ten inch R types. the two subs are a little under powered so I was thinking that if I put one 12 or 15 R type in theyre place it might drive the one sub a little stronger and sound better than the two 10s.

you will still be under powering it with that amp, the new type-r's handle 500 watt RMS, so i'd get another amp for your 10's, it depends on how much ohms on the voice coils of your 10's, are they dual 2 ohm coils or dual 4 ohm coils? If they are dual 2 ohms, you can get a mono amp, but if they are dual 4 ohm, you can get a 2 channel amp.
It sounds like you (or your sister) are going for major loudness. In that case. Go for Rockford Fosgate amps. Go for some Rockford Power Series to bump the trunk. I warn you though, it costs a pretty penny and not to mention the fact that you might need to beef up an alernator or add an extra battery.
On a personal note, I dont see the need to have more bass to the point that you cant hear the other sounds, but thats my opinion.

the car has all R Type compontet as well so they scream alredy, just a little more bass to richen it up would help. I was hoping to keep the cost down by not having to buy another amp but if it comes to that I will.
go for alpine's v12 series amps. i doubt the 2 10's would handle 500 each so the mrd-m1005 is out of the ? so you might wanna go for the 600 watt one. that seems pretty good for 2 10's. it is a mono though so check and make sure the subs are 2ohm+2ohm. that would be 300w a piece.
