i got a 92 civic dx, 4 door. The sunroof is broken and i needed a new one so i went to a wrecking yard and looked but all they had is one for a 96 civic 2 door. i know that they were in the same gen so i bought it, but before i even try to install it, i want to know how likely it is that it will fit, it looks like it will, help plz if you can

I don't know whether the sunroof will fit, but 92 and 96 Civics are 5th and 6th generations, respectively.

As RonJ said, they are not the same generation Civic.
You thinking that they were the same generation leads me to believe that there may be a mistake in what year the Civic you got the sunroof off of was, since visually you can easily distinguish the generations and I think you probably know what the visual differences are (i.e. 6th gen has a front upper grille where the Honda emblem is, and 5th gens do not).
Are you sure the Civic was a '96 Civic?

If it was a 92-95 Civic, the sunroof will fit your '92. Actually, upon second thought... DX models do not come with a factory sunroof. Are you sure that the sunroof on your car is a Honda OEM sunroof and not an aftermarket installation?
