Opinions on stereo?
I've got a Sony Xplod head unit, Infinity Reference series all around...6 1/2 two way up front and 6x9 three ways in the back. i think i said this but i've got a rockford T1 hooked up to a Kenwood Excelon 2ch (hence the suggestion to get the mono block excelon!) in a ported box made for it. Haha right now my box is just kinda sliding all over so i need to either make a custom box or deal with it.......i'd like to make a custom box, but that'll have to wait for awhile.
Yeah i worked out the whole ground thing.....it's a really random spot lol but it works. I'll try to get a pic of it tomorrow

Yes my box is sliding alll over the place haha. Ive tried screwing it down a couple times, but I gave that up haha. I put up my cargo net lol, and it keeps it in the back half of the trunk hahaha.
I dont think i would want a custom box. Not for an everyday car anyways.. Too much loss of trunk space for me haha. But they do look nice if done well.
So it looks like the only 2 brand name options I can find for amps in that price range is the Hifonics one, and the Kenwood one. And I think I might order at least the subs within a couple days. And then i can drool over them at home until the weather gets warmer here, and I get the rest of the components here as well. Ooooh im getting pumped to install and hear my new system! I was thinking of saving my money for a year, and selling my civic, and buying a supra next summer, but I think Im just gonna slowly keep putting money into my civic and enjoy it for years.
Nah i have a 6th civic 4D and the trunk is big enough enough for like three dead bodies......four without the sub box lol!
Ugh the box i have is almost as big as a dual sealed box! Which is why i want to do a custom box, it'll take up just a little more....but yeah i'm still not sure if i want to give up that much space
Velcro is the next option for me lowlife =) bout the only one left..... but my box isn't light.....it's like 70 lbs cause i have the amp on there too.....i dont really like it there, but i don't have the time to do anything about anything right now.
And Supras are tight!!! It'd be a toss up between a civic and a supra for me too......I think i'd stay with the civic just cause i know how to work on them, its easy and their just such awesome cars!
Haha i told you not o buy a used amp, but that's exactly what i did, so its worth checkins out.....go onto craigslist and see whats listed. but you gotta be wary of everything. I only bought mine cause the guy i bought it from wasn't even looking to sell me what he did (which was the T1, box, and amp). I could tell he knew more than me about car audio, and set the whole thing up for me and gave me a warrant pretty much! I actually went back to him for help on the ground wire. He made me promise to bring the system by when i had all in so he could hear it lol!

Nope, what we can take from that little argument is that a capacitor IS NOT a substitute for an inadequate electrical system. Also, if you have an adequate electrical system YOU DO NOT NEED the capacitor.... Well, unless you have noise issues then the capacitor can help with that!
caps are only useful if your alternator and battery have been upgraded. and really they can help with dimming lights, but i'd rather go for a gel-cell battery or a battery/cap combo made by Kinetic. i had an alumapro cap-15. (15 farad cap) and it really didnt do anything for the system in my truck, but the optima yellow top under the sub shroud works wonders.

It might be the long way around... but it saves you money in the long run. the stock components can't keep up with the constant drain from a system. typically most systems that push more than 1500 Watts will eventually deteriorate and then you'll be wishing you would have upgraded the battery and alternator... i've seen it happen too many times. i've done car audio professionally for about 6 years now.
Another trick I like to use is the Low Pass portion of a passive crossover to prevent my fan noise from bleeding into the power line!

The general rule of thumb is your alternator should be able to provide ALL your electrical amperage while your car is running as well as providing a constant charge for your battery. If you overdraw the capacity of your alternator, your next source is the battery or the capacitor if you have one. The only problem is your cap will be drained before a long bass note finishes playing, therefore you will hit the battery next. Now your alternator has to fill that cap back up, provide a charge for your battery, and provide amperage to run your vehicle electronics.
I have seen many people buy into the BS cap jargon that was pushed upon them by a sales associate at the audio shop.... In fact, one of my friends went through THREE regular Honda alternators last year and he still refuses to upgrade because he thinks his capacitor will help him. He is a good mechanic, but he doesn't know jack about electrical systems. I still want to know how that 70 amp alternator, stock equivalent battery, and capacitor are supposed to help him run 1,500 watts RMS? After all, his system can easily draw 150 amps of current at any given time, more than double his alternator capacity. I can't make him see the error of his ways because he knows nothing about electricity
