stereo wont turn on
ive got a 99 si that im trying to put a JVC kd-avx44 (el kameleon) ive hooked it up to what i think is right (according to shematics ive looked up online and the instructions to the deck), ive gotten the deck to turn on but i cant see anything on the faceplate. i pulled it out of my teg right at the dealership when i picked up the si, and it was working fine on the way there
heres how i have it hooked up (excluding speaker wires)
Civic -- JVC
constant 12v blue/white -- constant 12v yellow
switch 12v yellow/red -- switch 12v red
ground black -- ground black
illumination red/black -- illumination orange/white
the wires from the civic are cut behind the harness im wondering if that might be a problem. ive also tried directly hooking up the constant 12v from the battery with a bigger wire but still nothing (read somthing somewhere that said that might be the problem) is it possible that my faceplate got messed up from point A to point B? i really dont think so since i threw it in the case it came with so that crap wouldnt happen. im stumped, somone PLZ!!! help

Cutting and splicing the harness wires is very likely to blow the fuse under the hood that feeds the constant 12v wire. Check that there is actually voltage on both wires and the ground wire is grounded.
Make sure the speaker wires are not shorted to ground or to each other. This will cause many head units to shut down.
If still no results, take the unit out of the car and bench test it. Separate all the wires so there are no shorts in the speaker circuits. Connect the yellow and red wires to the plus side of a car battery. Connect the black wire to minus. The unit should light up and act like it is playing.

i found an other problem with the stereo....when i turn on my lights it cuts power to the speakers. with that enough was enough i bit the bullet, took my car to the local audio shop and got it fixed. turns out the owner before me had messed up some wiring. its all working perfectly now, only took them 45 min and 60 dollars to fix it all up nice for me.
