go with alpine, kicker or JL. had good experiences with all of those, I have kicker, friend has alpines and my bro used to have JL, love them all.

my sub was a bit costly though because I got a kicker solo-baric, but the sound quality makes it well worth it, clean sounding bass, except the damn trunk rattling sometimes [:@] but other than that it sounds awesome, it is matched up with an alpine amp and infinity kappa series speakers and tweeters, dont have anything done to the rear speakers, cant hear them anyway lol

~edit~ only problem is the solo baric subs are square so your box might not work with it, here is a picture of my set up, really messy with the wires and all in this picture because I hadn't done anything to make the wires not stick out so much

so i think im gonna go with the type-x and stick with the alpine.
my buddy is getting JL's so i guess we'll be able to compare and decide which is better then..
but im a big fan of alpine. always have been..
