Default the detail job so far....

ok so i got done claying and waxing the car with the royal blue...really good stuff and easy to put on,from about 10 feet away it looks good but about a foot away you can see some stuff of course. My black paint has been a nightmare for me so far considering that i have to do all this by hand. I was gonna put a coat of megs scratch x on but i didnt have time and it takes ALOT of work to get that stuff in so ill just have to wait till next week.i dont really know what else i can do to it now that ive put the wax on......

a decent reflection shot.....

You may already know this, but in case - you don't "coat" scratchx, you work it in and remove. It's not supposed to remain on the paint. Cheers.

yeah thats what i meant.....after i did a small section of the hood and saw how much work i was gonna have to do to do the WHOLE car i really didnt feel like doing like 2-3 hours of that. Would the scratch x really be worth all the effort to do the entire car????

I'm the wrong person to ask - I haven't worked by hand in almost 10 years. I personally think that spending $99 on a PC and $50 on pads is one of the best $150 investments anyone can make for their longterm car care. Even if you use it twice a year it'll save you *literally* hours each time and you'll get better results.

If you're in the US, Lowes. They sell them for $109, and they are regularly on sale for $99. If you're in Canada eshine.ca has them for $169, Canadian Tire for $209.

Yeah, I got mine from Lowe's for $109, excellent buy. N8, I'll have you know that from your second pic, you have checking, or crazing on your paint. Can you feel those marks with you nail or are they under the clear coat? ... Any swirl removal will make the checking more prominent and only reveal more of them because when you remove swirls, you are removing paint. The only way to fix these is to sand to bare metal and repaint.

IMO i don't think i would do it again, it took me like 3 or 4 hours. but it did get rid off all the contiminants on my paint, so i didn't have to use a clay bar, i also used NXT generation car wax and the results were awesome (another 3,4 hours), but scratch-x didn't get out all my swirls in my black paint. but it did get rid of the holograms on my hood and lightened the swirls. after the wax it was like looking into a black mirror. on a second thought yeah it was worth it.
