Default Gas mileage

Is there anything else I can do other than drive my Si conservatively to get better gas mileage?

What year?

Give the ignition system a tune up.

Keep the tires inflated at 35 psi.

Adjust the ignition timing to spec.

Fix any CEL codes.

Ditto that, mine goes from 35 mpg during the summer (30% hwy/70&% city) to 27'ish during the winter.

adding a stereo effects the vehicle in 2 ways... one obvious weight but whats mostly overlooked is the electrical draw it pulls from the alternator. that extra load on the alternator goes right to the motor which holds it back just the same as the AC compressor does in the summer.
ive noticed a typical 1-2mpg less with adding any kind of system over 600watts.

First, I don't own the Si yet, but my concern before I buy one is that yes, it is a sweet ride and more powerful, but I am not getting the gas mileage I would in an EX. I have test driven both, which was my first mistake, and fell in love with the Si. I understand you can't chip them, but I was just wondering if adding anything electrical, adjusting the ECU, or something else, could get me better mileage once I get it. I am the type of person that likes to drive fast at certain times, but in reality, this car will be getting 120+ miles per week and the first thing that attracted me to Civics is the 30-40 mpg.

Second, addiction2bass, doesn't the alternator always run? How would adding a stereo increase its load if the alternator is always turning anyway?

I think you'd be better off just buying a 5-speed EX.
