Do you mean CEL when you say ECU? If so, check whether the bulb is blown.

When you hit the gas and the mph went up, was the transmission in gear? Does the car drive?

check ALL your fuses, there is a 30a fuse under the dash that goes to the ecu.

i say check all your grounds, there should be battery - going to the motor/trans and one going to the frame, also there should be some on the thermostat housing.
