Yea you probably need a new o2 sensor those things are really sensitive and easy to damage. Most likely the pre-cat one.

i know i had a bitch of a time even attempting to get my downstream o2 out (eventually gave up), but my upstream was easier than pie..

and hopefully my current CEL is because of the downstream only

Both came out very easy, i just reset my ECU and drove about 20 miles then the check engine light came back on.....So now i dont know......I cant wait to get to a civilized place where i can go to an autozone and have them pull the code for me.

use the DIY i posted up there^ it will tell you what CEL you are thrwoing, that way you will know what is wrong with your car. If you are running a highflow cat or have a 6th gen DX, you will be throwing a CEL becaseu of the stupid secondary o2 sensor/cat situation. What year/model car do you have, and have you tried the DIY yet?

OK so igot the code was a 0420 which means catalitic converter is allowing too much emmisions....well i have that code because ihave a test pipe. I talked to a guy that works on alot of civics. he pretty much said with the I/H/E and test pipe my exhaust is not getting any back pressure at all, thats why im running rich. I have a 1.7 SOHC non Vtech, but i am soongetting aGS-R head(which will be a good DIY). After that it should run very good....check this out....bout to buy it for my 05 civic ^^

well depending on what size catback you have, if you are running 2.25" or 2.5" piping you will have enough backpressure, and someone will correct me if i'm wrong but i dont think backpressure has anything really to do with running rich, does it?

and like cderalow said.....how are you gonna put a GSR head on a D series?

i think that not having enough back pressure could be the reason...think about it, if the engine thinks its running too slow (because its not seeing any pressure) its going to try to add more fuel...it can only add so much, and when that doesnt help, it throws a CEL....makes sense to me any way...but that doesnt mean its right.

Also, there should be a crazy place called a "honda dealership" that should be able to help you...you may have to drive a while..but hey, you'll know whats up (if you dont do the DIY)

2nd. no, with your less restrictive exhaust....you shouldnt smell "gas" any stronger than you used to...but maybe a little more fume smell.

3rd...i really really want to know how you can put a b head on a d motor!

Wow, that is F*cked up, i was on 3 different forums for different cars, so that is completely screwed up, sorry for the wrong cut and pastes..... next time i should read over my post before posting...sorry![sm=laughat.gif]Now i feel stupid.....total madness in my world right now....
1. I was complaining because i didnt buy a V-TECH.
2. The B-head cannot go on a D-series engine, nor can a B series engine go into a 7th gen, i know that.
3.The thing i was buying for my 05 civic was this....
