running rich please help

i just bought a civic with a gsr swap in it converted to obd1 eith a chipped p28. i change the oil in it to synthetic and then it started to run rich and smoke is coming out that exhaust, what do you think could be the problem, will i might need a tune, but i know im running really rich, please help

i have a d16 with jrsc, and just switched to synthetic also, as soon as i switched, gas mileage went from 25 to 18. car is running very rich, i have never herd of synthetic causing any symptoms like this though.

Hi I'm your post neighbor. Reset the ECU perhaps by pulling the 7.5A fuse for 15mins, run idle for 15mins, shut off, on, off.

Could be the synthetic oil is making the engine run better and is goofing up the ECU's settings. Try it, it can't hurt. I read that the Honda dealership mechanics do this every time you take your car in to them. That is the 1st thing to try anyways.

ok i will try that thank you, also it only happens when the check engine light comes on, before i changed the oil, when the check engine light would come on it would run fine, but now with the synthetic it makes it run rich
