Default Should this be my average MPG?

I'm driving a '97 2-Door Honda Civic Ex (Non-Vtec) and I'm getting about 180 total miles on a full tank... usually I'm getting roughly between 22-25 miles per gallon... Does this seem logical? Or should I be getting a bit more? If that's the case... What could I do to get these numbers higher?

I'm with Aaron on that. It depends on your driving, your transmission type, and what kind of driving you are doing. Highway driving gets much better fuel economy than in-city driving.

There are also other things, like general maintenence, that can contribute to fuel economy. When were the spak plugs last checked/replaced? Are the plug wires in good shape? Has your distributor been checked? Have you used a fuel treatment to clean your injectors lately? Are your tires properly inflated?

Well I have no idea about cars really, but everytime I take it to a Machanic they ask me if its vtec or not... ? I would assume no, and they never deny it and their machanics sooo no idea!

BUT, my car is automatic and I usually do "city" driving, I'm in the burbs, so yeah, road driving, never highway. Oh, and I don't accelerate hard and I don't brake hard.

well i know my autozone asks the same thing.... look at the stamp on your motor... its stamped into the block on the front, alittle to the left of the header you should see a flat spot on the motor block with some D16..... numbers on it...

seems kinda low but depends on your driving style.... if you speed alot, more city driving.... stay on the gas pedal until having to slam on brakes at a stop light or sign..... ya i can see geting that bad of milage no big deal realy.....

when i first started driving my 94civic i got like 24MPG but i was still learning to drive a stick and having some fun with it as well.... and now just checked it and its 30.7MPG and last week when i ran the tank almost completly empty i got 36MPG but that was more highway cruising taking it kinda easy..

depends how you drive mostly.......

the epa rating for a civic ex automatic is 28/35. and unless someone did a engine swap to a non-vtec the ex should have a vtec in it. all though its not labled on the head. here is a
link to the epa ratings http://www.intellichoice.com/reports...97/Honda/Civic

have you had a tune up latley?
