Throttle Plate Cleaning
Hi guys,
I am new to the forum. I recently purchased(July 5) a 2003 Honda Civic LX one owner. 23,111 miles at time of purchase. Now around 25,100. A couple of weeks ago I took the car for a oil change maintenance check. I was told the car was in good condition. They did recommend throttle plate cleaning. Saying it could reduce mpg. Also said it could be cause by the type of gas the last owner was using. Been doing some research on the topic, it seems possible build up of carbon etc. Want to know what Honda drivers experinces are. I know some dealerships can recommend things which do not need doing or will take 10 minutes and charge you an hour or two labour.

all that is, is that they are telling you to take carb n choke cleaner and take of the intake spray it on the throttle body plate while opening n closing the plate by hitting the throttle like your giving it gas.
Agreed with ^^ and welcome to the forums! hope that helps any. Not hard to do, if you wanted to... you could always take off the throttle body and physically clean it. Replacing the gasket of course.
