H22+Boost
I searched for it but i couldn't find anything. I've heard some1 say that the H22 has thin cylinder walls and therefore not good for boost. My friend (and i really) are considering some major civic builds. I told him we should both get GSR swaps. I have my dad's '94 Civic LX sedan and my friend is gonna buy one (i think a EG hatch). He says that the H22 would be best but i said that the GSR is a better option. We were thinking to boost the crap out of it. Its gonna be a long term project (2-3 years) so its not gonna happen overnight. But i wanted to know if the H22 can hold up with high boost or would the GSR be the better option.
How much do u think labor will run to have the block sleeved and have the new pistons, rods, and crank (2k for the internals i estimate) installed. I rough estimated about 5k to have the swap done with the built motor in my civic (auto). But its a rough estimate and i think its a little on the low side.
yeah, the cranks have been known to be reliable for 800 horses and up. a VERY well-known shop here quoted me a grand for labor to sleeve one, sleeves run about 5-800 bucks, then add in your pistons and rods and ARP bolts. that 5k is a bit light is you consider my swap cost me around 36-3800 to get into my car. thats with a new water pump, timing belt, and clutch and flywheel. i would plan on 6-7k, with a little extra for small things that will come up. i guess i should point out that most shops will be a couple hundred less for the sleeve install, but thats the only quote ive gotten, since its the only shop in the area i would let work on my motor.
THis guy i know has a hook up at a shop and said he could get me a discount on the labor and maybe even the parts but since i don't have the cash right up to get the swap i haven't said anything about it yet.
