j swap
What do you mean what's good? They have 2 more cylinders than "normal" Civic motors. They have this thing called torque as well which has eluded Civics in the past.
Research. I doubt anyone will spoon feed you info unless it can be copy and pasted. Instead of being a douche and copying wikipedia info, I am hoping you will go out and research what is needed to do this swap. Search and you will find "SPLAT" from this forum. He currently owns two J swapped hatches. Read through his threads.

well if you want to hear a bad thing about it: it weighs more than other swaps. I've heard (but can't confirm) that it will kill your civic's handling because of the added weight in the front end.
it depends on what you consider "difficult". It seems to me that you need to look up both swaps, DO SOME READING, and figure out which will be best for you.
and what do you mean, "weight distribution" could help that? You mean like throwing a sub box in the back to even out how much weight is distributed throughout the car? because its not as easy as that...
