Default 1984 honda civic motor problems

the civic has a 1.5 4cyl timing seems to be on ,it has a new timing belt ,seems to be getting fuel. the car try's to start but wont. had it running once but it ran rough , and now wont start but try's, has new plugs and wires,i also have tried advancing the timing with the dist. but still same results ,on TDC rotor was pointing to #4 cyl and I advanced the wires as advised from a previous question. i need this car for work so any and all ideas will be a great help?

Sounds to me like it might be the valve timing. Set #1 cyl to TDC. Pull the valve cover and check the timing marks on the cam gear. They should be in line with the flat surface of the head, & the valves on #1 cyl should be closed. Sound's like the timing belt might have slipped a cog.
