5th Gear

It's just a matter of available torque and wind resistance. When you shift to 5th your torque goes down and your wind resistance stays the same therefor... you slow down.

I don't know why it would slow down, but like mental said, it's just a cruising gear. It's really tall and gives a huge mechanical advantage so that the motor doesn't have to spin so fast to stay at highway speeds. If it bothers you that much, swap in an Ex/Si tranny.
all d series have the same 1st and 5th gear ratio's
