Default 93 civic help

Hey Im new to this forum and civics and I was wondering, what would you reccommend to do to my 1993 honda civic hatchback dx to make it perform as best as it can on a reasonable budget. Not dirt cheap, but not ridiculusly high either.

I guess I dont have any specifics, but, I don't plan on spending 20 grand on my civic, and, Im willing to spend plenty more than a few hundred bucks.
