Default adding a tach help

I wanted to add a small 2" tach to my cluster, bought one, was reading the hook up directions, and it tells me to hook one of the wires to the NEG side of the coil.................well theres my problem........

this is a 1990 civic 1.5 sedan, I think the coil is built in with the distributor (the HAYNES book I have is CRAP only shows a 87, completly different set up)

So I need to know where the coil is and where is the NEG wire side of the coil

any help? Beuler?

edit: ok after doing some more searching on line I think I have to some how tap into the ECU tach test wire...................a "blue" wire, hmmmmm where the hell is that?

Wouldn't it be easier to do a complete cluster swap with a tach?

Take the panel off the gauge cluste housing. There are two screw cover towards the windshield to do this. The blue wire (I forget) is either on the top right or top left. There's only one. Strip, don't cut the wires, and either wrap them together real well and cover them with electrical tape. Or, if you're the ambitious type, solder them and then electrical tape. 4th Gens + tachs = Da Shiz!
