yeah right if he did all of that work to the engine first he'd be fine, otherwise if you wanna be a wimp about it only do 30-50 shot

i was thinking 10.000 rpm to increace the v-tec powerband a little bit.i saw a video in youtube the other day, the guy had a b16a2 reving at 10.000rpm and it was just that the car was going way too fast.(0-240km)i am also a n/a guy cause i think honda doesnt built turbocharged engines for a reason, they always prefer the reving high engines cause of better mileage and fuel economy.besides why turbocharge a b16a to get to 200whp??since that's my goal. i dont think a turbo project will cost less money.even if you do it with less money than n/a mods would cost (with stock internals, no intercooler, small turbo, and a chiped ecu), realibility will be much less.and remember i live in a warm climate country.how smart is it boosting with 40degrees Celcious?

the video in you tube is in this link..enjoy!:

thanks for replying everyone.

maybey if you have ol' john boy down the road tune it...a turbo can be just as reliable as an N/A...esp. if it has a huge red line...and gets spun to 10k. all day.... also... if you look around you can build a really nice turbo kit for about 1-1.5k...so....really just do some research before you bad mouth turbos like your Jesus! and turbos can still run in warm weather....in USA we have places call deserts, and we have turbos there as well....how smart is pushing a block to its power celing and RPM limit in hot weather???? esp. since no one has mentioned the cooling this build will require!

these are just a couple of 200 hp n/a civics. and they definitely have some work done to them. one thing i dont understand about this forum, and dont get me wrong theres tons of info on it and i love it,is ionce brought up building a b20 vtec with my gsr and all i got was posts about boost boost boost. i love driving a boosted car as much as the next person but it always seems when someone wants an n/a car everybody tells them "just boost it" maybe he just doesnt want to. he asked about building an n/a car and when he says he doesnt wana boost it like everybody suggests you get responses like the one ^^. just dont get it

i think he is the only person that understands me.i did mention n/a tunning only and really thanks for all the guys that bothered to reply..looks like i did get more replies than i though. but it really gets more like "why bother tunning an engine as a N/a while you can boost with much more potential and less money".i strongly believe the answer to that, is that i want to reach a goal (200whp as i mentioned),no more no less than that.and the other thing is that i always loved the sound of a b16a and the power coming out of it as a N/a engine.i think it's one of the best "small"(1.6L)engines ever made.besides i want to built something special.boost is the waymost people prefere.what i love the most is being ahead of those "low boost" cars with stock internals.i really love the expression when theyll get passed by me.

honda tuning magazine is currently working on a normally aspirated 250 horsepower b20 mill that can be a daily driver and run on pump gas.

the key is to start off with a strong block, not sooper high RPM.

the engine builder starts with a custom dart block that reinforces the cylinder walls so they don't explode at TDC, like a lot of high hp honda engines do.

I sure would like to have a NA 250 hp b series engine.

If you think power down low will be pathetic with a boosted B16 go ahead and build one that will turn 10,000 rpm reliably and see what you think about the power down low on that setup. Reving a engine that high is absolutly pointless on the street in a 2400+lb car, the tq curve of a B16 is allready pathetic and jacking the powerband up that high will make it tons worse. 200whp n/a on a B16 can be done with a stock block, rods, and crank though. Throw a set of CTR pistons in it, have it balanced, a set of TODAor custom grind cams, and alot of headwork along with tuning. If you would think about boosting you could run a JRSC

[*]JRSC 6psi[*]Hondata Stage 3 With Boost and Datalogging[*]Kamakize Header[*]CAI[*]Custom 2.5 Exhaust with 5 Zigen 304 Max Racing Muffler
or

1999-2000 Honda Civic SI 1.6L DOHC Supercharging Systems

This Vortech supercharging system can safely increase the Si's horsepower from 160 to 218 and torque from 111 lb./ft. to 142 lb./ft.*
High Output Supercharging Systems:
The increased boost level, high output supercharger system, features a fully integrated air to water charge cooler. This system will increase horsepower from 160 to 277 and will increase torque from 111 lb./ft. to 175 lb./ft.*
It's all about what you are willing to do by way of power. You could also get a greddy turbokit and make good power. What alot do not realize though is that high hp cars feel like **** w/o tq to match it and that is what you will have with a N/A 200+hp B16

Its because even the best n/a Honda builds have **** for torque... just hollow horsepower
