94 Civic EX. Stock 1.6 with 135,000 miles. Lately when I start it, the engine idle will go up and down a couple of times. Then idles just fine. But last night. Did the same thing. Started driving and the car just about died. Any idieas?? Ignition??

sounds like an O2 sensor or mass air flow sensor. Get them checked out.

 

Check your distributor, cap, wires and plugs. If your O2 sensor went bad, you would get a check engine warning. Same goes for MAF sensor. IF either of those goes bad, you'll get the codes. Also, a bad O2 sensor, shouldn't give youa rough idle, you will run rich on fuel though.

 

I figured it was ignition. Has new plugs. But I'll go through and do cap/rotor and wires this coming weekend.
