I was looking into puting a camshaft on my 93 civic 1.5L engine. I was told that I should change the timing chain while I am at it, should I drop the money into it or hope that it will hold up?

what kinda milage is on your car now? if its close to the time to have it changed i would go ahead and replace it to save you the hassle down the line.

Has it ever been changed before? if it's a high milage car, it would be better to do it now.
