you'll need a non-vtec ecu....that's all I can think of....why did you buy this? What is wrong with the original motor?

I don't see why a vtec ECU wouldn't work. It'll tell the engine to hit vtec but it won't. Why not put your Y8 head on your new block?

if i am correct you r taking the y8 motor out and swapping it to the y7 1st why...... but any ways what year is the y7... if its a 99-00 you have to change the wiring harness to your y8 wiring but at the same time what year is your civic if its a 99-00 you dont have to change the wiring harness but you do have to hook up the third wire to your iacv cause the y7 which is a dx has three wire and the y8 which is a ex has only two wire... the purpose of asking you about the years of the motor is that the 96-98 is a obd2a and the 99-00 is a obd2b the wiring harness is totally different..... give me more imfo about your motors ill try to help as much as i can.......
