RE: engine ??
well first of all, you need to find out which of the D15 series motors you have. Unless i am wrong any dseries motor should bolt in but you will have to change the harness and ecu. as the engine management is diffrent however this is not a huge deal just make sure you get the harness and ecu with the motor. if you go bigger also get the intake and exhaust manifolds or the intake and put a header on. if your going to a bseries motor you need new mounts and axels, they do sell kits.
as far as year. 1992 through 1995 honda civic is the same car. with respect to the series. so if you have say a 1992 honda civix dx that is stock, you could use the motor from a 1992 through 1995 honda civic dx and jut drop it in with no changes but it is the same motor. now say if you have a 1992 honda civic cx which has the d15b8 "8valuve" motor and you got a motor out of a 1992 - 1995honda civic dx/lx , d15b7 "16 valuve" motor you would need the dx/lx harness and ecu as well as a 4 wire o2 sensor dx/lx intake and exhaust manifolds, They are bigger to allow more air into and out of the motor. or you could get a d16 intake and exhaust manifold which are bigger yet and will bolt onto the d15 series head.
now if you wanted to put a v8 in it, you need a plasma torch and awelder an old style carburated 350, turbo 350 tranny and a choped down 9inch ford rear end. need to be a good welder, you have to tunnel the chasis to make room for the drive line and weld a sub frame under the unibody to keep it from flexing beyond specs basicaly you build a chasis that you can drop the civic shell onto and bolt the unibody to the fram and add a few skirts so you cannot see what a beast it is, untill you notice that the back wheels are spinning not the front and that the front end is about a foot off the ground. then they would see the oil pan of the 350 and the sub chasis.

if you can take a pic of the valuve cover that would help greatly, and do you know if the motor is stock or if it has been swaped before?
