Default Engine Options- 98 DX Stock

I've got a 98 DX stock, and plan on doing a turbo to it. Now i was wondering what i could do to the engine, besides a swap, to beef it up. This is going to be my daily driver, and i want to keep it fairly reliable. When i get my turbo, i'm going to run low boost. I'm not worried about looks with this car, i'm just looking for speed. I figure i got about 106 hp stock, and with a turbo i can be around 170 HP, but i'd like to be 240-270 HP. I don't have too much money and i plan on buying a cheaper turbo since i'm only running low boost. Is this possible without doing a swap. Again i want to keep this fairly reliable since it's my daily driver. Thanks for the help

You're right about this.

Do you mean cheaper (like ebay style), or just smaller (like greddy 15G style)? Why only fairly reliable? Reliability is all in the tuning...which can cost a pretty penny.

To answer your question, yes, it is possible. Port & polish head, built head and bottom end, good tune.

Remember, the rule of thumb is:
Cheap, Fast, Reliable (pick only two)
