Default fuel filter cleaning vs new

My car has 135k on it and to my knowledge its the original fuel filter.

is there any disadvantage to cleaning it as opposed to buying a whole new one?

also, what kind of cleaner would I need? and does the "GumOut all-in-one fuel system cleaner" clean the filter?
