Ok so does anyone know anything about a JDM D16A 1.6L SOHC VTEC motor. and it a D16A only no numbers after the A. anyway i bought a distributor from msd and i ordered the one that was for a 95-97 1.5/1.6L VTEC. i have a 97 motor. well i think cause the computer says 1997 on it. basically what im trying to find out is if the usdm D16Y8 is the same cause i thought they would be. i have no idiea what they come out of over in japan and all that good stuff. i have tryed to find out but, i have never ran into a problem like this. i know maybe they shipped the wrong one but i was pretty sure its the right one but, just in case. so if anyone knows anything about this motor please any info would be great and if u know a place on the web and could tell me that as well that would be good too. thanks alot for any help.

I have been doing some reaserch and i think i found out that it is basically the same as the D16Z6 or a mini me or even a jdm/usdm hybrid whatever that means. it does not have the black valve cover. it has the aluminum one. i been looking on other forums and there has been talk about them but i still don't know what to compare it to. i pmed md but, no word yet but, i just did it this morning. if anyone knows anything please add any info u know about the motor.

 

no. it isnt the same engine. its the 88-91 JDM CRX. its more like a SOHC VTEC ZC than anything.

 

how much HP does the sohc vtec ZC have?
