I just put a 88-91 jdm obd 0 b16a in my 1997 civic ex. i had rywire convert it to obd1 and i got an ecu (p72) and its in the car and running. i have a check engine light throwing code 6 and 7 and its running really slow and sluggish like it has no power. and it backfires badly. maybe my timing is bad? it runs like crap. all i want is for it to run like a b16 is supposed to. help me please.

 

check the code and see what it says then i'll be easier to diagnose the problem

 

throwing a CEL will put the car in "limp mode" so it should run like crap....do what 99SI said...fix the problem and then see if runs better.
