If you want to beat them, build your D series and turbo. If you want to totally blow them away, build a B series and turbo. It really depends on how much money you have to work with. One thing that you have to know is that if it comes down to you modding your civic and them modding thier 5.0 mustang, they are prolly gonna end up on top. Its easier to make power out of a V8 than a 4 cylinder.

Do you want to beat your cousin now or later? With 6,000 you could build a B series to run some insane numbers. However, your gonna need a turbo which costs another 5 or 6k. With that setup, you should be in the 11s range however. The only problem is that you will drop 6k into your car and get very little back in the way of power (in the short run). However, once you get that turbo your cousins and uncles will be dumbfounded.

Or you can build the D, turbo it, and be in 13's all day long easy. The question is, do you want to just show your relatives that you are faster then them, and just have a pretty quick car? Or, do you really want to get in to your civic as a hobby, be willing to learn a lot, dedicate time, effort, and lots of cash; and at the end be some thing pretty damn quick? Then thats where the B and the turbo comes in. You decide.

13s wouldnt be that hard to hit on a boosted D. pete ran mid 14s on a slushbox transmission with a stock exhaust (right). a turbo and exhaust...maybe a good turbo cam...and you'll eat 5.0L's all day.

Not even needed. Really all you need is a good turbo kit, a new fuel pump, some bigger injectors and a tune, ARP headstuds wouldnt be a bad idea either. That right there tuned for 200whp will own a 5.0, and you can get alll that stuff, probably professionally installed for like 3K.
