RE: i need to swap
if you want something simple and easy then get a d-series motor with a v-tec head on it. its a bolt on motor no motor mounts needed and also your tranny lines up with the motor. the problem is wiring and getting a v-tec controller also converting obd0 to obd1 or 2 depends on the motor.
price=700 thats motor wiring ecu and other mods
now you can go with a b16 which is v-tec and also dohc and they have a package that includes everything for the swap mounts ecu tranny axles etc. but it cost about 2000 but its worth it trust me.

RE: i need to swap
Just to clarify a few things, there aren't any VTEC D-series motors that'll bolt right into a 4G Civic. You'd still need a mount kit and a new tranny. For the money (I assume you're looking for cheap) you should look at a blacktop DOHC ZC (probably $600). It IS a direct swap (same tranny, same clutch, same axles, etc...) but you need to make sure your car is wired for MPFI and get an 88-89 'Teg 5 speed ECU. The stock rods should be good for 210 whp, and it's easily buildable.
EDIT: Sorry about that. A SOHC VTEC ZC will bolt right in, but the DOHC is better.
