installing a block heater on my 98 DX???

So i still dont understand the logic behind it... it works as an electric blanket that always keeps the engine warm? Or does it just heat the engine faster when you turn the key?

Moog, you have coolant running through your engine at all times to regulate the engine's temperature (usually about 160-190 degrees F). This little device, it seems, uses electricity to warm itself, thereby warming the coolant that continually passes through it. The logic is, accelerating the warming of your coolant to it's normal operating temperature, decreases the amount of time necessary for the engine to warm up.
