the alternator has 4 grooves just like the new crank pulley. yes 51/2 inches the only size of belt i tried to use was a 27.5 and the orignal is a 30.5 4 groove

you sure it's inches, that would make your crank pulley 25.5" in diameter...

its 21/2 inch pulley on the alternator

the orignal crank pullet is 6.5 inches in diameter

wait, that still doesn't make sense, because that would make the original pulley smaller than the new one.

you said the new pulley is smaller.

is the new pulley smaller or bigger than the old one?

its roughly around a 1.5inches smaller than the old one

is the alternator pulley aftermarket too?
