if your syncros were going you would get a grinding noise coming from your tranny beacuse it can't get to the speed its suppose to while shifting. I've heard of people being able to shifting with no clutch before but its usually not a smart idea. nothing good come of it

both aren't good and im not sure how much it would cost to get your syncro replaced. But syncros are in your tranny to help relieve pressure on the tranny itself when you are shifting gears. Helps with the rpms. Not sure how much it would cost. I've never heard of a civic having needed syncro job. what year is your cvic?

I admit I shift without the clutch sometimes. Very bad practice because it will tear stuff up if you miss the gear.

If you have a pre-1992 model try adjusting the clutch cable before you declare the clutch to be dead.
