Default stage one cam

i was just wondering what would happen if i put a stage one skunk2 camshaft in a d16 without upgrading the springs and retainers. I would also like to know if a cam gear is necessary with it, because im not going to get it tuned. I have a d16y8 with intake, exhaust, header, aem pulleys, intake manifold, and 62mm throttle body. I know im not going to get a very big gain but i dont have the money to get stage 2 or higher with the springs and retainers and then have to get a tune. I just want to drop it in and get some gains. Let me know if this will get me some gains or its not even worth it to do.

it'll give you gains, but I can't say how much you'll actually feel it. From what I've heard, stage I cams are basically a joke (that's just what I've heard though)... and no, you won't need a cam gear if you aren't getting it tuned. Personally, i'd say save up your money for a stage II and all the required things for it... you'll probably be happier with the results.
