Swapping a D15B8 into car with B7
Hey guys, i have a quick question. I currently have a 92 civic lx 4 door with the D15B7. After 470,000 miles (350000 on motor rebuild) my car has finally blew a head gasket. I am also going to assume i will need motor work anyway, i never really accelerated much pas 3-3500 rpm, but the couple times i have hit 4k some oil will burn out the tailpipe (the oil runs low every couple thousand miles).
Anyway my question was: with this motor i get 38mpg mixed town and highway. this is great mileage for me, but i was wondering if i am changing out my motor, would it be dumb to go to a D15B8? Ive read the gas mileage is great, but i was wondering if i would notice a big difference in acceleration? my car still takes off decently and holds 80mph on the interstate, i could give up some acceleration but i want to make sure i can actually keep going at high speeds. my main thing is if im only geting a few mpg for a lot of work and no power it wouldnt be worth it, but if the gains would be significant i was wondering if it would be worth a shot. if you have an opinion, let me know! Thanks!
