2001 civic - gas tank size??
I filled up on gas today and for the first time i not only broke 40 litres but i broke 50 litres. I put in 51 litres of gas. Is that even possible on a 2001 4 door 4 cylinder??

The above website says it has a 50 litre tank, so is it possible to still have gas in the car to run it, and put 51 litres in the tank, or is something fishy with the gas station i went to?
Everytime i get gas i barely break 40 litres by the time my fuel light comes on. I didn't think i did anything different this time around but i broke 50.
Any ideas?

51 liters is possible. I find most tanks are a little larger than the spec sheets claim. I have found a gas pump or two however, that I have doubts as to their accuracy. My '06 LX sedan's low gas light comes on after 10 gallons or so. That leaves about 2.5 gallons in the tank. If i wait until no bars are showing I take about 11 gallons. Apparently Honda wants to make sure you never run out of gas. Supposedly you will do harm to the cat converter if yourun out.

You may have a 12gal tank, but never actually drain the tank all the way. As mentioned before, you could also probably fit a liter of fuel in just the filler tube. Honda may not even list the full capacity of the tank, and prevent you from filling it all the way through tricks, like Chryslerhas done, byuse of an overly long vent tube. My '95 YJ fits 20gal in a "15gal" tank because I trimmed the fill vent tube several years ago to match the optional 20gal tanks' they charged unsuspecting buyers for.
BTW, It actually took $40US to fill my tank the other day. Even the lady pumping next to me couldn't believe that it cost $40 to fill a Civic these days. Just ten years ago, I remember filling my motorcycle for around $3 and riding it all week, or filling my Jeep for around $20. I even used to have a car that could get me from Chicago to Denver for around $30-35. I think those days are long gone.
