Default How can i check the size of my gas tank?

Im supposed to fill up to at least 12 gallons but for some reason I only can fill up to 7 gallons from an empty tank. I need to know so i can figure out if its a sending prob or if the idiots that had the car before me switched out to a smaller tank. Thanks

It should be 12 gallons. I'm not sure, but your if they didn't swap out your gas tank, it may be your fume vent. I've heard of those causing problems in filling gas tanks up to a certain point. Just a suggestion for something to look into!

I doubt you have a smaller tank, by looking at that image. Unless they strapped a gas can under your car

Take a look at the pic, then get under your car and look at the tank.

How many miles do you get to a "tank" (according to your fuel gauge)?

Fill up a gas can and put it in your trunk. See how many miles you can go with the needle on E. You could have a bad sending unit.

I have the same issue. I think our gas gauges are just inaccurate and we aren't really almost empty when we fill up. I ran out of gas once a while ago and when I filled up I had to pump almost the capacity amount of gas that time, but that was the only time it ever happened.

Just don't run out of gas trying to see how low you can go! Better off just filling up like you always have.
