Default RE: AUTO VS. MANUAL

Speaking of automatics or manual tranys i was looking at the new 2006 civic SI i was told it wont come out for sale till december and it will only come with a manual trany....im a automatic trany fan myself........manuals are good but i think there is to many wearing parts...aspecialy in the clutch area compared to the automatic.....yes the auto has alot more things to do in itself just to get from first to second and so forth but look at the cost of getting someone to change a clutch ....you will do it at least once in the life of the car....compared to just changing fluid in a auto....anyway my queston is do any of you know if this 2006 civic SI will come with an automatic or not and if so when ??????

Automatics will always be superior to manuals in high horsepower\low quarter mile cars. Computer s dont screw up shifts and shift times. I would much rather have a 4-speed hydramatic tranny from a Pontiac grand prix GTP then a 5-speed. But yes, for our low horsepower daily drivers, the 5-speed is more fun, and will give more "go"
Well, just for the record, 1/4 mile runs are boring as hell. It takes exactly jack s**t in terms of skill, and with an automatic, even less. Now for a circuit or autocross car (also known as REAL driving) you can't run with the manuals if you're in an auto.

Drivers drive manuals. Period.

I prefer automatic for myself as a daily driver because I've got a bad knee, but I'm gonna buy a 5 speed for a weekend toy lol. I say get which ever one you want.

yes it's not that hard to eat and drive manual, you just can't race and eat at the same time

but perhaps we can take a lesson from the germans and just enjoy our driving experienceand notclog it up with all these other distractions
