Default Brighter Interior light?

I have a 98 civic sedan and the interior light on the roof sucks. It is only a 5 watt bulb and barely lights up the cabin.
Is it possibly to get a brighter bulb?

Thanks, Josh

Should I just take the bulb to somewhere like Napa and get a similiar bulb with more watts? How many watts can the electrical system handle?

Thanks,

There is 10 watt bulb that will fit. Anything larger will melt the plastic. You could replace the whole light unit.

If you're still running the light through the stock radio / keyless system it might not like large bulbs.

easiest upgrade... is to LED lights... either the simple led dome light, or make some measurements and buy the right size super bright led unit...

you can also use some flex strips and put them under the dash or under seats to brighten up the interior abit more as well.... preferably white to be brightest.

I prefer these, they cost much less and have near identical results.

(3022 festoon bulb, scroll way down)
The more LEDs on the bulb the better. I'd go with the 9-LED one.

Also, what I did not like about the Oznium dome lights was 1. the price, and 2. the overall bulkiness of the setup... it was difficult to fit under the dome light lens and get the wiring all tucked up underneath. It was also difficult to get the dome light grid lined up straight, which is important to me. Since you can see the individual LED beams through the dome light lens, it looks unprofessional if the LED grid is not perfectly straight
