I bought my '95 civic ex coupe with 155k for 2700.
the timing belt and water pump had been replaced.
the car also had new tires, fresh oil change, and transmission flush.
i've had the car for almost 2 months now and i love it.

best tip for getting a car cheap is low ball them a grand after the car has been listed for a while and see what they have to say. They may need the money or just want to get it off of their hands and unless you need the car NOW it could save you a crap load, maybe not 1,000 but at least 500-700.
