hmm

cut in half (to make an SRI) with hacksaw, put back together later with coupler?

just look at a pic of a 92-00 Civic engine bay with short ram intake and try to cut it in the same place as where the SRI ends in the pic (don't forget about the ~1" of piping under the end of the filter)

You So Cal kids and your endless wonder towards precipitation. Make sure you cut it so you can mount the other piece back on with hosing. Good luck riding out the rain.

Just make sure your not at RPM if you hit a big puddle before you make your intake a short ram. Always press the clutch <or put in neutral > and let the RPMs die before you hit a big puddle. The higher RPMS will pull the water in. The lower RPMs will have a much lesser effect.
If you don't want to cut your tube, you CAN put the filter on your intake mani. I will work just fine.

unless you are going thru 1foot deep puddles you have no reason to worry have you ever seen the angle that the water would have to make it up to get into your engine.
