okay i want to put a new engine in my car, im interested in puttin a B18 GSR but ive seen in some forums that there not all that great, so,i thought about an LS VTEC but i heard they werent very reliable... could SOMEONE tell me which is better? or which would be a good engine for my car, price.... no more than 5Gs. btw i have a 96 ex manual

 

who is tell u that the b18 isnt good?? i have a b18 an i have no problems...its a great engine to build if u wanna go all motor or boost, an the block can hold crazy amounts of boost. Id saw its a great engine.

 

Or go with a B16

 

I wanted the gsr motor hella bad but Im tight for money and I realized that even though I have a job it would take me 6 months to get it. I think im gonna go with the b16a1, not as good but still a great engine. I heard that the average life of the ls vtec is only 25k miles so I didnt even think about that

 

b16 is really just not worth your money...it's torqueless and doesn't distinguish itself from a normal d series until like 5k rpm. Just boost it or get a better swap.

i agree, the b18 gsr motor is a good motor. the b16 is not worth the money because of the torque. from experience i would go with the b18 or the ls vtec or just boost the d series you have right now. what are your goals for the engine?

 

Im a fan of the B18c and H22 setups myself. Im about to pick up another H22 to build up over the winter and drop in after the first of the year. You can come across H22's fairly cheap too. Btw, for 5g's you should be able to do just about any swap EASY and still haveALOTleft overif you do it yourself.
