I'm all confused by what models you guys talk about (bear in mind i only really have a clue on 92-95 hatchbacks and ek9s).

Rather than say what year Civic they're referring to (example: 92-95) most folks here will use the letter designated to that generation (examples: EF, EG, EK, EJ, etc). While it should be noted that technically these letters are specific to hatchbacks, they're pretty much accepted as a reference to coupes and sedans as well.

The "X" letters refer to what model Civic (examples: CX, DX, LX, EX) they're talking about. Finally, "SI" is the top of the line performance model Civic.

That's my take on it, anyways.

Once you learn the language, it's much easier browsing the forums.

It's a chassis code. Look at your VIN number, you'll see it there.

EJ is not a coupe, it's a lot of things. I drive an EJ6 for example.

Most common internet lingo is to use the JDM references.

EF = 88-91 civic
EG = 92-95 Civic
EK = 96-00 Civic
EM1 = 99-00 Civic Si
EP3 = 02-05 Si Hatchback

Those are the most common.
