Default Considering a Honda Civic

Hey everyone! Im new to the forum, I dont currently own a Civic but I am seriously considering purchasing one. I love sporty, yet fuel efficient and reliable aspect of them.

Currently I have my sights set on a 2001 red EX Coupe stick shift. I know as soon as I get it im going to get bitten by "the mod bug". Im wondering if its possible to get atleast a somewhat deep, solid exhaust tone out of them. I dont want it to sound too loud. Im thinking, because the engine is so small, probably dont want to go anything over 2.25" diameter. How does this sound? Also, I have yet to drive it, is it pretty fast? Its a stick shift, plus it has the vtec engine, so I think it should have some pretty good pep.

Thanks guys!

George

they're slow but they feel fast lol, i drove a cl type s and was going 90mph and didnt realize it because it was so smooth i thought i was going 60mph. but in the civic when you go about 75mph or a bit less it feels like your going fast. fun cars and they look great.

greddy sp2 exhaust
apexi ws2 exhaust

low deep tone, never raspy

about $500, which is a lot, but if you plan on keeping your car, it's worth it.

Greddy evo2 is a lot better in my opinion, but I'mnot a fan of the oval exhausts. I like canisters since they are a little more attention grabbing (that's my lil bit of rice in me). My evo2 sounds real nice, its a deep tone that sounds awesome, and it's loud enough that people around you hear you but it's not too loud that it is obnoxious or you can't hear your own music. And for normal driving it is pretty quiet if you want it to, best $500 I spent!

What do you mean they are a better platform for mods? There are more parts available or they are easier to work on?

Also I saw some videos on youtube of the greddy evo2 exhaust, I agree, it sounds good!

the 7th gen civics, which is the one your looking at, has a d17 motor. There arent a lot of parts available, plus it isnt that popular of an engine to boost either. Also the engine swaps are limited to the K20 or a replacement D17. So I say you get some 16s and drop her. Get a nice sounding exhaust and call it a day if you end up getting that 01.
