Dome light not working properly
#4
Good - I would have hoped so.
But hey, sometimes it's the easy stuff that people overlook, so I've found it never hurts to ask.
Back on topic - do you find it works with one door or another, or does it not work for any door?

it does not work with any of the four doors... seems unlikely that ALL the door switches are faulty. Not to mention the door switch works just fine to let me know when I have left my lights on. If the lights are on and the door opens, the car chims like crazy.

Take the dome light out of the ceiling, it has two wires on it. One is always live (I think it is the white/blue stripe circuit from the BACK UP fuse). It is connected to one end of the bulb. The other one goes near ground when a door is opened, it is connected to the other end of the bulb through the switch. The 3 position switch in the light assembly could be bad. You can test that by setting the 3 position switch to "DOOR" and grounding the terminal for the control wire, it should light up.
I don't think the 98 has the dome light wired through the stock radio (part of the keyless entry system) like the 96 and 97 did. On those you had to jumper the radio plug to make the dome light work from the doors when installing an aftermarket radio.

i have just learned that the 98 does have all that mumbo-jumbo tied into the factory radio... at least that is what another civic gent' told me. He said I need to get a factory radio and some type of bypass harness to work with my aftermarket radio.
