Default ECM replacement

Hey everyone. It's my first time on this forum.
I have a 2002 civic ex vtec 1.7Lt, I have had ECM that needs to be replaced. Does anyone has ever done it before? I know that I have to replace it with one of the same kind with the numbers that's on there match up but, some people telling me that I need to get an ECM with the ignition and key from the vehicle because the key already programmed with that ECM but if I get one without the key from a junk yard it wont work..please give me your best advice.

Your year should only need an ecu. No programming required.
