first car
(talking about the one with the "speak english please") See the thing is, that car is in great shape. Needs a new timing belt and you're all set, from the looks of it. I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to buy that car. Try to talk him down, make it clear that you are being reasonable.
The HX will never be fast. If you want to be able to make it fast, don't get it.

I read that no name ebay coil overs will most likely cause your struts to crap out, I love ebay, but suspension items are one thing i wont buy from ebay. 6k is a ****ing lot for that car even though the body is perfect. Dont let someone rip you off for the car you want, I payed about 600 more than i should have for my car cause i didnt know any better and didnt have the ***** to walk away. It still bothers me a year and a half later. you should def try to talk him down or just keep looking.

Your friend is probably a B-series fanboi.
If you were to build the engine and turbocharge it at high boost that thing would make hella power. Granted this wouldn't be smart to do for a daily driver and would cost a lot but the fact that he implies that it is incapable of being fast just makes him ignorant.
