K&N depends on sticky oil to trap dirt and dust so be sure to use K&N cleaning kit.

well actually most filters are dryflow now and don't require oil. And you don't need to worry about cleaning them for awhile, unless it's a cai and u splash mud and stuff onto it but generally there fine.
