The only thing that I could think of that the JDM VTEC solenoid would do is - maybe - let VTEC engage at a lower RPM. No more horsepower, just less time on the dinky, Dudley-Do-Right cam that gives you nice mpg and blows rose-scented air out the tailpipe.
Considering that JDM anything nowadays is going to cost money, you'd be better off with a VTEC controller that lets you control when VTEC engages. You'd want to set it at a point where the lumpier cam and short-ram intake path aren't causing any detriment, or even a little lower depending on how much RPM drop-off you have between shifts.
